Over the years, the term “modern furniture” has had many meanings. Even in this day, it means different things to different people. A popular perception of “modern office furniture” involves asymmetrical forms and shapes that seem more apt for a science fiction lab than a modern day office. However, it does not have to be so extreme. Modern furniture, though, has a full range from conservative to bizarre and, in truth, it is the more conservative end of the spectrum of modern office furniture that is more mainstream and familiar.
For the most part, modern furniture has clean lines and a cool feel. But, modern encompasses so many different types and emotions that it can also mean furniture that has a more avante guard impression. In fact, most modern office furniture would also be just as at home in another category such as contemporary or conventional. There is often a spillover from this category to others which is what makes it so special. You can find modern furniture with slick veneer and aluminum or in a heavy, warm wood. The possibilities for this type of furniture are almost endless and can be used to accent an upscale advertising agency on Madison Avenue or a small town attorney’s office on Main Street, USA. With modern style office furniture, you write the rules.
Mayline Office Furniture has several modern style lines of office furniture. Their Corsica suite features veneered surface desks in several styles, including a bow front desk, a straight front desk and a P shaped desk. They also offer several other pieces in the same line such as a credenza which is available in several sizes, a hutch with wood doors or with glass doors and a hutch organizer. All pieces are well suited for each other and match in both style and finish. The storage accessories work well with that Napoli suite as well.
The Napoli suite by Mayline is at the opposite end of the modern furniture spectrum from the Corsica suite. Where Corsica was warm and felt more traditional, Napoli has a look that is more space age and minimalist contemporary. The Italian inspired styling compliments all the pieces, which include a desk, a curved desk return with a pedestal, buffet, file pedestal, wardrobe cabinet, wall cabinet, bookcase and other pieces. The silver detailing takes this modern suite to the contemporary end of the spectrum. The finishes, however, keep the pieces warm with sierra cherry on a cherry veneer, mahogany on a walnut veneer or golden cherry on a beech veneer.
The beauty of modern office furniture is that it has the wonderful versatility of fitting in to any office atmosphere. Whether traditional or contemporary, there is something for every taste. When choosing modern furniture for your office, evaluate your needs as well as the aesthetics that you wish to portray in your professional space. Regardless of the style that you select for your office or workspace, make sure that it is a reflection of the professional image that you wish to portray.

I understand that style is important, i also realise looks aren’t everything. In my opinion the single most important factor is Ergonomics.
There’s nothing more important that health and well being, also from a financial point of view if your staff are away from there desks, and posh looking chairs, there still costing you there salary and giving nothing back.
There are many contemporary ergonomic office chairs out there, just think of your and your staff’s health and well-being when you make your next purchase.

Your points are right on target. My experience with office furniture suggests a major switch is under way. Executives are looking for more open and creative office environment for their workforce. Productivity and teamwork can be maximized outside the walls of a traditional office.

I put a small fountain on my desk top and it really put a natural, and relaxing, finish on my office decor, which is Asian influenced.
